Welcome to the 2-0 Fantasy Train (3-1 overall in 2 leagues) as I pumped out another win in my work league (123.1-107.7). I’m starting to feel better about my team, but there are some glaring holes in it, and hopefully I can pick up something off the scrap heap this week on waivers.
I had big days from Dak Prescott (27.7 pts), Austin Ekeler (23.3 pts) and Julio Jones (27.6 pts). All three have been and will continue to be my foundation as I move through the season and will be staples in my lineup. If you currently have them, they should be in yours as well.
I did get burned on my flex pick this week, and I knew I would. I went with Josh Gordon over Aaron Jones. Gordon’s potential was huge, but also small at the same time, if that makes sense. I went with Gordon because of the upside and also because Jones was going against a solid defense, in the Minnesota Vikings.
Bad Call! Green Bay fed him the ball and he finished the day with 116 yds rushing and a TD. That was good enough for 25 bench points for me. Gordon finished second on the team in targets with five, but that only turned into two catches for 19 yards (3.9 pts).
So Week 3 will see some significant changes as I will have to shift some things around. The Questions I will need to answer going into week 3 are:
Will James Conner’s injury have an impact on my lineup? If so, Jones gets the start. Will Gordon continue to be the flex play or does an opportunity open up for Cole Beasley (4 rec, 83 yards, 9.7 pts) who goes up against a Cincinnati defense that has given up 492 receiving yards and five touchdowns in the first two weeks?
Also, both my kickers (Stephen Gostkowski and Matt Prater) struggled by missing extra points in Week 2.
Here is my week two lineup:
QB Dak Prescott: We will continue to dance Dak
RB Aaron Jones: With Conner being hurt, I will start Jones. He earned it and the Pack plays the Broncos in Week 3
RB Austin Ekeler: Not dead. starting
WR Julio Jones: Injury did not seem to bother him. Let’s roll
WR Robert Woods: Frustrating Week 2. Let’s see if he bounces back against the Browns in Week 3
TE Delanie Walker: Back to earth in Week 2, right where he should be
Flex Cole Beasley: Going up against a horrid Cincy defense, there is upside
D/ST Titans: Staying with the Titans as the Chargers are slowly becoming a MASH unit
K Stephen Gostkowski: He’s killing me, but so is Matt Prater
Possible Change from Bench
WR Josh Gordon: May move into the flex. Unlikely, but possible
RB James Conner: He’s hurt. If he plays he may be my flex, but then again he may not.
Players that are not on my team that I really like this week:
QB If you have Lamar Jackson you have to roll with him. He’s been solid thus far and is going up a Kansas City defense that gives up a lot. Their offense rolls and makes every game with them a rock fight. Jackson has proven he can do it with his arm (Week 1) and his legs (Week 2). He’s a solid play this week
RB So I was totally off with my Devonta Freeman pick last week. I will go the safe route this week and say Ezekial Elliot will tear up Miami at home in week 3. I know, not hard to pick that, given that any RB on Doherty high could tear up Miami at this point. Dalvin Cook has also been showing his brilliance and going up against the Raiders at home will only help matters.
WR It’s tough not to go all Dallas all the time this week, given their opponent, but Amari Cooper stands to benefit from the peudo bye week.
TE I have to go with a TE not named Kelce, so I am going to say George Kittle at home against a struggling Steelers team is going to score 1 TD and catch five for about 90 yards
Good Luck this week!
